

Andrew has a science background in medicinal inorganic chemistry, including organic and inorganic syntheses and a variety of chemical and biochemical assays. His patent practice covers a wide range of technical fields including industrial and applied chemistry related technologies, inorganic and organic synthesis, process chemistry, waste treatment, polymers, plastics, coatings and electrochemical sensors. He also has expertise in pharmaceutical and radiopharmaceutical compounds and formulations, methods of treating humans and animals, medical devices, laboratory devices, agrochemicals, production and uses of alloys, flocculating polymers, superconducting materials, dye-sensitised solar cells, food science and waste treatment. To round things off, he routinely helps inventors with simple mechanical type inventions.
Andrew has advised clients working in a number of industries, particularly the pharmaceutical, veterinary and agrochemical industries regarding whether a product or process they have developed is patentable and whether they are free to commercialise their product or process in light of existing patents. He has extensive experience in patents, designs and trade marks, and has successfully helped his clients enforce their IP rights in the Australian Federal Court.
Andrew spent over 10 years at Griffith Hack before deciding to spread his entrepreneurial wings and found Foundry Intellectual Property in 2013. Andrew spent the next 10+ years growing a thriving practice and firm.
